NIGERIA REINSURANCE CORPORATION ORGANIZES TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR UNDERWRITERS
Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation organized a technical training on Underwriting of Reinsurance Business. The training which was held on the 5th and 6th of March 2015 at the Corporations office, Reinsurances House, 46, Marina Lagos brought together professionals in the insurance companies across Nigeria. The training was in line with the Corporation’s strategic plan unveiled last year has organization-customer alignment as one of its tool to achieve a win-win with his customers in the industry. The Managing Director of the Company, Lady Isioma Chukwuma represented by Dr. Yele Akinrolabu, Executive Director, Marketing and Customer Loyalty welcomed all the participants at the opening of the program. She hinged the purpose of the training on the need for improvement in the underwriting business in the industry. According to her most Nigerian insurance industries need adequate knowledge to underwrite a profitable business. She attributed the bad state of account of many insurers to the bad business and let them with high solvency risk. The areas of discussion in the training include reinsurance principles and practice with emphases on fire, aviation and marine underwriting. The knowledge from the training is expected to improve the professionalism of the participants and more importantly their underwriting skills. She therefore enjoined all the participants to take note of every detail that would be taught as the seasoned and veteran consultants are the faculties that would handle the training. Dr. Yele Akinrolabu appreciated the response of companies that sent their representatives to attend the program. He also advised the participants to feel free and come out of their shell in order to make the class more interactive; stating that it is time for the insurance professionals to change from the conservative style of life- this he believes would greatly help in moving the industry to the next pedestal.
